One audio to MP3 converter for every format
MP3 is still the format that plays everywhere: on phones, in cars, on smart speakers and in every music app. Many recordings, however, arrive as WAV, M4A, FLAC or another format that a device or website will not accept. An audio to MP3 converter solves that in one step and usually makes the file much smaller too.
This page reads all common audio formats, plus rarer ones such as AMR, AC3 and CAF. You can add several files at once, choose the bitrate and save each one as a standard MP3. The conversion runs inside your browser, so even private recordings never leave your device. If your sound is inside a video, use our Video to MP3 converter instead.
How to use the Audio to MP3 Converter
- Add your audio filesTap Choose Audio Files or drag files onto the box. You can mix formats and add many files at once, up to 500 MB each.
- Pick the MP3 qualityKeep 192 kbps for a good balance, choose 320 kbps for the best music quality, or turn on Mono for speech.
- Download your MP3 filesEach file converts on its own. Tap Download next to it, or Download all when everything is ready.
Which MP3 bitrate should you choose?
The bitrate decides both quality and size. As a rule, 128 kbps is fine for podcasts and voice, 192 kbps is a safe choice for most music, and 320 kbps keeps the most detail from lossless files such as WAV, FLAC and ALAC. Converting to a higher bitrate than the original never adds quality, so there is no need to go above it. Need an even smaller file? Run the result through our MP3 Compressor.
Frequently asked questions
Which audio formats can I convert to MP3?
WAV, M4A, FLAC, AAC, OGG, OPUS, WMA, AMR, ALAC, AC3, CAF, M4B, AIFF and more. If your browser cannot read a file, the converter switches to FFmpeg automatically.
Is this audio to MP3 converter free?
Yes. It is free with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on the number of files. The only limit is 500 MB per file.
Are my audio files uploaded?
No. Every file is converted inside your browser, so it stays on your phone or computer.
Does converting to MP3 reduce the quality?
MP3 is a compressed format, so some detail is removed. At 192 or 320 kbps the difference is very hard to hear for most people.
